Arkaba Homestead

Flinders Ranges, South Australia

Wild Bush Luxe

Five hours north of Adelaide in South Australia’s ruggedly beautiful ‘outback’, Arkaba station sits at the foot of the Elder Range amidst the 540-million year old landscape of the Flinders Ranges. Seamlessly blending history with elegance, it is possibly the most beautiful outback property in the country.

Built in 1851 on a vast former sheep station, the homestead has five traditional en suite guest rooms, each opening onto a shady verandah. The rooms are air-conditioned and contemporary, but remain sympathetic to their heritage, each with their own character. A comfortable library with deep leather armchairs provides some seclusion for enjoying a quiet drink and a good book and a wet edge pool overlooks the Arkaba Creek. Dining takes place around an old wool classing table and sophisticated...

An absolutely fantastic travel company - every one of the many trips they have organised for us over 22 years have been faultless and fabulous.

Thank you for putting together the ancestral adventure of a lifetime. I cannot speak highly enough of the trip. The transfers went smoothly, the accommodation was excellent, the drivers were amazing as they manoeuvred through the traffic and every tour guide had a great deal of knowledge and information. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The contrast of poverty and riches of the country was striking, from the beggars in the street and struggles of the poor to the spectacular, impressive sights of the forts and monuments. There were so many highlights. A moment in time that will never happen again.

Exellent and wonderful, reaching way above expectations.
