House in the Wild is a private home tucked away on a 1,000‐acre private estate within the Enonkishu Conservancy on the edge of the Maasai Mara. The conservancy was once used for farming but a successful rewilding project has seen the rangelands returned to their natural state and Kenya’s iconic wildlife has returned to the area in impressive numbers.
Built originally as a family getaway and still overseen by the owners, the lodge exudes a sense of easy relaxation and homeliness. Up to fourteen guests can be accommodated across four cottages, two of which have two separate bedrooms perfect for families. All enjoy a pretty river outlook, shady verandahs, outside star showers or bathtubs with a view. The main area provides a lounge and dining area, a swimming pool and a bar. A small team of chefs, guides and hosts will ensure your every need is catered for. As well as enjoying excellent wildlife viewing, fishing and guided bush walks, you’ll have the opportunity to witness the way local communities have built their livelihoods in harmony with the nature. Visits to the local villages can be arranged and you’ll be welcomed into the homes of local people and invited to take part in activities such as beekeeping and animal husbandry. Visiting the noisy cattle market is a highlight, as is walking among rhinos in a sanctuary.
A stay at House in the Wild allows guests to share an intimate safari with friends and family whilst having direct access to some of the world’s best wildlife viewing and gaining a valuable insight into real Kenya.
