Quintessentially Delta

North Island Okavango safari camp is located on a private island in the Okavango Delta, surrounded by a mosaic of other islands all netted together by shining lagoons and transient channels. Between the floodplains, open savannah and woodlands, there is an abundance of wildlife everywhere.

The camp is wonderfully quiet and exclusive, with just four tented guest suites resting on a raised wooden deck under the shady boughs of wild ebony trees. Each tent offers stunning views of the lagoon in front of it and a private plunge pool with a sunken sundeck for cooling off while watching the wildlife that comes into view. Interiors are styled with bold shapes, textures and contemporary African inspired design. For the hotter summer nights, each bed comes with its very own ‘over‐the‐bed’ cooling system, while in winter, there is a cosy fireplace to relax in front of, creating a romantic safari ambience.

The main area sits peacefully in front of a glorious hippo‐filled lagoon, with a separate lounge and dining area to enjoy delicious dinners, connected by a wooden deck that extends onwards for stargazing around a crackling firepit at night. To the side, there is a separate library for resting and reading and an outdoor gym to exercise in, while surrounded by the wild.

Activities include game drives, eye level wildlife spotting on a boat or traditional mokoro, fishing (seasonal), helicopter flights and visits to local communities. Spending time with wildlife conservation partners is a real highlight.

Thank you for putting together the ancestral adventure of a lifetime. I cannot speak highly enough of the trip. The transfers went smoothly, the accommodation was excellent, the drivers were amazing as they manoeuvred through the traffic and every tour guide had a great deal of knowledge and information. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The contrast of poverty and riches of the country was striking, from the beggars in the street and struggles of the poor to the spectacular, impressive sights of the forts and monuments. There were so many highlights. A moment in time that will never happen again.
