When Paul Oliver first came to Tarangire he found what he had been looking for in all his years of travelling through Africa: a wild and unspoilt national park. In 1992 he established a small camp, aimed at offering his guests an authentic African experience. In 2004 Oliver’s Camp joined Asilia Lodges & Camps and Paul’s vision for a true bush experience prevails.

Located in the remote south of Tarangire National Park, Oliver’s Camp offers a privacy and exclusivity rarely found anywhere inside a national park. Managed by Ken and Michelle the camp offers a level of expertise (on many things including photography) that makes Oliver’s one of the most sought after camps in all of Tarangire.

The camp features ten beautifully furnished guest tents scattered along the marsh edge with excellent views over a permanent water source. Each tent is covered by traditional thatch and offers an outdoor shower plus indoor bathroom. Every evening, you can relax or read in the lounge and library tent, or enjoy sundowners at the fireplace.

Tarangire boasts large herds of elephants and buffalo roaming around mystic baobab trees, plus a large concentration of big cats and arguably the best bird diversity in East Africa. Ideal for those who really want to experience nature in its purest form, Oliver’s Camp offers undisturbed open vehicle game drives, adventurous private fly camping (on request) and walking safaris that allow for a rare chance to stalk elephant on foot.

Thank you for putting together the ancestral adventure of a lifetime. I cannot speak highly enough of the trip. The transfers went smoothly, the accommodation was excellent, the drivers were amazing as they manoeuvred through the traffic and every tour guide had a great deal of knowledge and information. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The contrast of poverty and riches of the country was striking, from the beggars in the street and struggles of the poor to the spectacular, impressive sights of the forts and monuments. There were so many highlights. A moment in time that will never happen again.
