It’s enviable location on the banks of the Sangha River and at the central heart of the African continent in Dzanga-Sangha make getting to the lodge a far from easy experience but one that is well worth the journey.
From Sangha explore the surrounding ancient forests with its majestic waterfalls and abundant birdlife, gently glide down the Sangha and Yobe Rivers by boat, enjoy gorilla trekking and iconic game viewing at the Dzanga Bai – a unique forest clearing where anywhere between 40 and 150 forest elephants can be gathered at any one time, you may even spot the elusive Bongo. Dance... the night away with the local Ba’aka people or learn about the research and rehabilitation of pangolins at the Pangolin Research Project… the list goes on.
The seven well-appointed bungalows, five of which have their own en-suite bathrooms but all of which have hot and cold running water and flush-loos, provide you with a comfortable stay in untouched forest wilderness.
A stay at Sangha Lodge beautifully encapsulates a sense of intrepidness which is further complemented by the sense of peace offered by the Sangha River. The contrast of poverty and riches of the country was striking, from the beggars in the street and struggles of the poor to the spectacular, impressive sights of the forts and monuments.
