5 DAYS HOPPING AROUND THIS UNFORGETTABLE ISLAND

DAY 1 | KANGAROO ISLAND | 4 NIGHTS

On arrival on Kangaroo Island drive to Cygnet River, home to koalas and a variety of parrots, and offering a chance to learn from your guide about the Eucalyptus oil industry. From there your small group journeys to the north coast and explores Stokes Bay where you are likely to see kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and a variety of shorebirds. You then have a very special visit to a private property amongst a redgum forest to enjoy a seafood BBQ lunch.  At Seal Bay Conservation Park take a private tour with your guide among Australian sea-lions on a beautiful sandy beach – an experience similar to that in the Galapagos. Watch pups nursing or playing in the surf, see old bulls bearing the scars of territorial disputes and learn about their unique breeding biology. If time permits visit the spectacular wilderness beach at Bales Bay before arriving at your hotel.

DAY 2 | KANGAROO ISLAND

The vast wilderness of the west end of the island is your focus for today, including a private wildlife refuge and Flinders Chase Natioanal Park. You will see wildlife surveys for small endangered mammals and your guide will give you an introduction to the bush, giving context to fire ecology. Break for lunch in the bush before you head into the National Park. In the afternoon explore the natural sculptures at Remarkable Rocks, see fur-seals resting at Admirals Arch and learn about the history of Cape du Couedic lighthouse.

DAY 3 | KANGAROO ISLAND

Journey into the eastern side of the island today with its limestone cliffs, white sandy beaches, ice-age dunes and peaceful lagoons which typify the Dudley Peninsula. This eastern region is a microcosm of Kangaroo Island with gorgeous landscapes, exceptional food and wine and a diversity of wildlife habitat. Explore Pennington Bay and the marine sanctuary of Pelican Lagoon, a tasting at False Cape Winery before a delectable picnic lunch. Continue east to Cape Willoughby, the Devil’s Kitchen, Antechampber Bay, Baudin Conservation Park and the township of Penneshaw.
