Antarctica 21 Fly Cruise
Antarctica is a continent surrounded by oceans. Reaching it requires either sailing across the ocean or flying over it. The body of water between South America and the Antarctic Peninsula, the infamous Drake Passage, can be rough but by choosing to fly with Antarctica 21 you can avoid this infamous passage. You’ll also save time – just two hours by air vs 2 days by ship!
Once in Antarctica you’ll explore this magnificent continent on foot and by exploration vessel, leaving the main ship to board small zodiac boats accessing isolated areas larger ships cannot reach, where few humans have trodden and where wildlife and nature abound. You’ll visit Chile’s Frei Station and Russia’s Bellinghausen station, sail along ice-filled fjords, navigate mountainous glaciers and roaming icebergs, attend an engaging program of lectures and presentations and absorb the immense scenery that surrounds you.
During the exploration, you are escorted at all times by renowned naturalists, historians and scientists who share their passion and knowledge of Antarctica. This virtually guarantees magnificent sightings of Orcas, Humpacks and Minke whales, several species of penguin including Chinstrap, Macaroni, Gentoo and Adelie, leopard and elephant seals and a vast range of extraordinary birds including Albatross, Petrel and Skua.
Antarctica 21 only offers expeditions aboard small ships carrying a maximum of 73 guests. In Antarctica a regulation designed to manage environmental impact limits the number of visitors at any one location to no more than 100 – therefore larger ships must organise their travellers into groups in order for them to take turns, resulting in significant delays for some passengers to disembark. On Antarctica 21’s small ships your experience of the vast White Continent is truly maximised.
Antarctica is an ecological wonder that has bewitched explorers, scientists and voyagers alike for two centuries. Its matchless beauty and extreme climate conditions make the continent one of the most exotic destinations in the world.
