5 UNFORGETTABLE DAYS

DAY 1 | PUNTA ARENAS (CHILE)

Check in and early this evening board the vessel, before a welcome toast and introduction of the captain and crew. During the night cross the Strait of Magellan and enter the labyrinths of channels that define the southern extreme of Patagonia.

DAY 2 | AINSWORTH BAY - TUCKERS ISLETS

Arrive to Admiralty Sound this morning, an offshoot of the Strait of Magellan that stretches nearly half way across the Tierra del Fuego. Go ashore to admire the copious birdlife and enjoy one of two excursions in the area. Later leave to sail along to the Tucker Islets and see the many penguins which use the place to nest, give birth and to nurture their chicks. In September and April when the penguins live elsewhere, a different excursion is offered.

DAY 3 | PIA GLACIER - GLACIER ALLEY

Sail around the western end of the Tierra del Fuego via the very narrow Gabrial Channel, Magdalena Channel and Cockburn Channel. After rounding the remote Brecknock Peninsula, the Australis cruise tacks eastward and enters the Beagle Channel again. Enter Pia Fjord and board the zodiacs for a glacier tour, then take a short hike for a panoramic view of the glacier. Back on board the ship continue along the Beagle Channel through an area called Glacier Alley.

DAY 4 | CAPE HORN - WULAIA BAY

During the morning cruise across Nassau Bay into the remote archipelago that includes Cape Horn National Park. Weather and sea conditions permitting, go ashore windswept Cape Horn. In the afternoon navigate the narrow Murray Channel between Navarino and Hoste Islands and anchor at historic Wulaia Bay. After a visit to the museum, enjoy one of three hikes, and before leaving the bay, drop something into the wooden barrel in the museum, letters or postcards meant to be hand delivered by future travellers.

DAY 5 | USHUAIA (ARGENTINA)

The following morning sail into Argentine waters and dock in Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city. Arrive at 8.30 or 9.30am according to date of departure.
