Hike to Machu Picchu
Located in the high valley of Soraypampa at 3,850 m/12,500 ft above sea level, in full view of the majestic Salkantay peak is the Salkantay Lodge where you will spend the first two nights of your trek. In addition to Andean gourmet cuisine, the Lodge offers an outdoor jacuzzi, bar & lounge, cozy reading rooms and twelve well-appointed rooms with ensuite bathrooms & hot showers, and the opportunity to undertake an acclimatisation hike to a nearby turquoise glacial lake.
Escorted by experienced guides and pack animals to carry your luggage, you will trek by crossing the spectacular 4,600 m/15,000 ft Salkantay Pass, and descend into lower and warmer cloud forest valleys. Along the way, there is time to visit small villages, learn about the history of the Incas, and enjoy the variety of bird and plant life that is unique to the region. You will spend one night each in three intimate and comfortable lodges located at strategic points along the Salkantay Route: Huayraccmachay, Collpapampa, and Lucmabamba. The three lodges, unique in decor and setting, offer the same amenities as the base lodge, and accommodate twelve guests each…..and they sure beat camping!
This extraordinary adventure culminates with a visit to the magnificent ruins of Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the modern world.

7 UNFORGETTABLE DAYS
DAY 1
Depart Cusco, enjoy a 4-hour hike to Salkantay Lodge.
DAY 2
Acclimatisation hike, return to Salkantay Lodge.
DAY 3
Cross the highest point on the trek, Salkantay Pass at 4,638m. Overnight at Wayra Lodge.
DAY 4
Hike downhill through cloud forest. Overnight at Colpa Lodge.
DAY 5
Continue your descent to the Santa Teresa River valley. Overnight at Lucma Lodge.
DAY 6
Final trekking day and your first glimpse of Machu Picchu. Train to Aguas Calientes and overnight at Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel.
DAY 7
Rise early for a guided visit of Machu Picchu before returning to Cusco at approx 8pm.
