Umaid Bhawan Palace

Jodhpur, India

Royal Palace Hotel

Located high above the desert capital of Jodhpur, Umaid Bhawan Palace is the last of the great palaces of India and one of the largest private residences in the world.

Named after Maharaja Umaid Singh, grandfather of the present Maharaja of Jodhpur, this golden – yellow sandstone monument was conceived on the grandest possible scale.  After 15 years in construction, the 347 room palace was finally completed in 1943 and has served as the principal residence of the Jodhpur royal family since.

Umaid Bhawan Palace offers 64 rooms and suites, each showcasing the renowned Art Deco style with a distinct ambiance. Equipped with modern conveniences, Palace rooms are a refreshing blend of old and new. Current amenities comfortably co-exist with original décor from princely times.

An absolutely fantastic travel company - every one of the many trips they have organised for us over 22 years have been faultless and fabulous.

Thank you for putting together the ancestral adventure of a lifetime. I cannot speak highly enough of the trip. The transfers went smoothly, the accommodation was excellent, the drivers were amazing as they manoeuvred through the traffic and every tour guide had a great deal of knowledge and information. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The contrast of poverty and riches of the country was striking, from the beggars in the street and struggles of the poor to the spectacular, impressive sights of the forts and monuments. There were so many highlights. A moment in time that will never happen again.
