4 UNFORGETTABLE DAYS

Please note:

This itinerary is based on the 4D|3N guided walk along Tasmania’s iconic Overland Track. Please contact us for further details on set departure dates and alternative itineraries.

DAY 1 | BARN BLUFF | 1 NIGHT

You climb the steepest section of the whole Overland Track today reaching Marion’s Lookout (1250m) with staggering views of Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake. You continue around the base of Cradle Mountain along the edge of a spectacular glacial cirque before dropping into Waterfall Valley where your private hut awaits, beneath towering Barn Bluff (12km; 6 hours walking).

DAY 2 | PINE FOREST MOOR | 1 NIGHT

Today you’ll be walking across plains where glaciers once rested. Although an undulating trek with a few sections of exposed moorland, there are no significant climbs today. You take your time venturing across vast button grass plains where ancient pencil pines fringe alpine tarns with Mt Pelion West ahead. Optional: Side trip to Lake Will and remnants of Joseph will’s coal mining efforts in the 1890’s. This evening, at Pine Forest Moor Hut (12km; 6 hours walking).

DAY 3 | PELION PLAINS | 1 NIGHT

This morning you venture through gorgeous myrtle-beech rainforest as you descend around the base of Mt Pelion West, down to the Forth River before it plunges into Lemonthyme Valley. From here, it’s a gentle ascent back out of the valley. You leave thick Eucalypt forest behind as the trees part to reveal Pelion Plains. Uninterrupted views of Mt Oakleigh’s dolerite spires now come into play. The Pelion Plains area offers a host of side trips, hugged by mountainous terrain. There are excellent swimming holes, peaceful nooks to rest and abandoned copper mines to explore. Come nightfall, you’ll be nestled amongst dry sclerophyll forest at Pelion Hut. (10km; 5 hours walking).

DAY 4 | END OF ITINERARY

Today, you head east, crossing Pelion Plains and following the southern shore of Lake Ayr, mainly wandering through open eucalypt forests and across button grass plains. You then follow a gradual incline along the Innes Track before having lunch near Wurragarra Creek. You pass the mirror-still waters of Lake Price before a sharp descent into the Mersey Valley near the Arm River. This is where your shuttle bus is waiting. Your return trip to Entally Lodge takes you through the Mole Creek Karst area and the rural township of Deloraine. (14km; 6 hours walking).

An absolutely fantastic travel company - every one of the many trips they have organised for us over 22 years have been faultless and fabulous.

Judith & Roger Williams

Thank you for putting together the ancestral adventure of a lifetime. I cannot speak highly enough of the trip. The transfers went smoothly, the accommodation was excellent, the drivers were amazing as they manoeuvred through the traffic and every tour guide had a great deal of knowledge and information. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The contrast of poverty and riches of the country was striking, from the beggars in the street and struggles of the poor to the spectacular, impressive sights of the forts and monuments. There were so many highlights. A moment in time that will never happen again.

Jenny Kidd

Exellent and wonderful, reaching way above expectations.
