Onguma

Bush Camp

Onguma Reserve, Namibia

Etosha family adventure

Africa’s largest saltpan, Etosha, is the result of a geological shift that dramatically changed the course of the Kunene River, away from where the pans are today.  The pans, 120 km across and 55 km from north to south, were formerly an ancient lake.  Today the Pan is mostly bone dry, the stark, parched white surface giving the Pan its Herero name ‘Great White Place’.

Originally part of the greater Etosha Game Reserve, Onguma Game Reserve is one of Namibia’s best kept secrets.  It is situated on the eastern side of Etosha, bordering Fisher’s pan.  The Reserve covers an area of over 34 000ha and incorporates ecological substrata such as savannah, bushveld, omuramba and dry pan.Age-old and well-worn migration routes, once used by elephant andbuffalo wander through...

An absolutely fantastic travel company - every one of the many trips they have organised for us over 22 years have been faultless and fabulous.

Thank you for putting together the ancestral adventure of a lifetime. I cannot speak highly enough of the trip. The transfers went smoothly, the accommodation was excellent, the drivers were amazing as they manoeuvred through the traffic and every tour guide had a great deal of knowledge and information. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The contrast of poverty and riches of the country was striking, from the beggars in the street and struggles of the poor to the spectacular, impressive sights of the forts and monuments. There were so many highlights. A moment in time that will never happen again.
