Devils, Lakes & Mountains

Tasmania's World Heritage Wilderness

Having your own private Guide, and departing on your date of choice, is the ideal way to experience the island state of Tasmania. Your journey commences in Launceston before driving, with your guide, to Hawley Beach to spend the afternoon in Narawntapu National Park. An opportunity to enjoy a wildlife spotlighting expedition to look for wombats and other marsupials – you might even see a Tasmanian Devil! On to Cradle Mountain, a magnificent UNESCO world heritage wilderness of over 1 million hectares of one of the last expanses of temperate rainforest in the world. Undertake scenic bush walks (where you set the pace) around Dove Lake with the rugged grandeur of Cradle Mountain as a backdrop. Your guide interprets the native flora and fauna as you explore rainforest, heath and beach. Visit Marakoopa Cave and its underground world of glow worms and at dusk take a tour to observe wombats, quolls and wallabies. The lakes in this area are easily explored on an electric bike with the bonus of being able to look for platypus. On the way to Hobart you can enjoy lunch at an award-winning vineyard before being delivered to the airport for your flight home, or to extend your stay in the capital.

On this private tour you will not only marvel at the spectacular scenery – from Cradle Mountain National Park and Dove Lake to Narawntapu National Park and the Thousand Lakes area of the Central Highlands; your guide will also showcase the very best of Tasmania’s flora and fauna with the opportunity to see kangaroos, wombats, quolls, platypus and, of course, the Tasmanian devil. You will also have the opportunity to indulge in superb local cuisine with delights including Tasmania’s abundance of seafood, exceptional wines and delicious home grown honey – and there will be plenty of time to taste them all!
