Bisate Lodge is located in the natural amphitheatre of an eroded volcanic cone, with dramatic views of the peaks of the volcanoes Bisoke and Karisimbi rearing up through the Afro-alpine forests of nearby Volcanoes National Park.

The luxury lodge can accommodate twelve guests in six sumptuous en suite rooms that maximise comfort, cosiness and views while retaining environmental principles. Tirelessly dedicated to sustainability, Bisate Lodge is intimately involved in projects that support the ‘4Cs’ – conservation, community, commerce and culture – and their ‘Every guest a philanthropist’ scheme involves visitors in these efforts should they wish to join in. These practices ensure that the lodges is not only one of the most exclusive luxury offerings in the area, but also the most sustainable.

Ten habituated gorilla groups can be tracked and observed in the Volcanoes National Park and treks through the jungle will be rewarded with phenomenal encounters. During your stay you can also enjoy guided hikes, treks to see the endemic golden monkey population, birding, visits to local communities and co-operatives, involvement in the reforesting projects and excursions to Dian Fossey’s grave and Research Centre. The trail leading to her remote rainforest camp and grave – which is set alongside the graves of her beloved gorillas – and the remains of the research centre is spectacular and deeply moving.
