Explora’s style is comfortable elegance, and its handsome interiors belie the rather bland exterior: Softly curving blond-wood walls built entirely from native deciduous beech are a soothing environment in which to relax after a long hike. A band of picture windows wraps around the full front of the building, and there are large windows in each room – even the bathrooms come with cut outs in the wall so that while brushing one’s teeth, guests can still have their eyes on the gorgeous panorama. The furniture was handcrafted using local... wood, and the crisp guest rooms are accented with Spanish checkered linens, handsome slate-tiled bathrooms, and warming racks for drying gear. The main ground level of the hotel houses the reception, lounge, bar and restaurant in a single–plan area. Outside, a wooden plank walkway leads down to an indoor swimming pool, massage room, sauna, and adjacent outdoor jacuzzis.
As part of the all-inclusive package, the hotel offers a wide selection of full and half day excursions. There are more than 35 options to choose from with explorations on foot or by horseback in small groups of up to 8 people. The horse riding here is exceptional and rides range from one hour meanders across the pampas for beginners to full day expeditions for advanced equestrians. The longest and most challenging routes take you over windswept ridges, splashing through ice blue waters and galloping through enchanted forests whilst spotting the region’s prolific flora and fauna and iconic geological formations. The horses are impeccably well schooled meaning every guest feels like a gaucho in the saddle!
