Designed to make the most of the reserve’s spectacular views, the lodge’s two camps, of just nine suites each, are complimented by tranquil guest areas.
Blending perfectly into their environment, the two intimate camps of Matetsi River Lodge reflect the deep traditions and undaunted spirit of the land, from ancient fishing methods to time-honoured basket-weaving techniques. Striking and contemporary interiors are enhanced by rustic accents and distinctive artworks created by renowned Zimbabwean-born painter, Helen Teede.
Both indoor and al fresco showers offer a promise of refreshment, while a deep and indulgent circular bath provides a languid viewpoint onto the Zambezi.
Tranquil and shady, a spacious private veranda provides magnificent river views, which can be enjoyed from a comfortable sitting area or the cool depths of a sparkling rim-flow pool. As dusk sets, atmospheric lantern-lit private dinners are served to a serenade of Africa’s night sounds.

Thank you for putting together the ancestral adventure of a lifetime. I cannot speak highly enough of the trip. The transfers went smoothly, the accommodation was excellent, the drivers were amazing as they manoeuvred through the traffic and every tour guide had a great deal of knowledge and information. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The contrast of poverty and riches of the country was striking, from the beggars in the street and struggles of the poor to the spectacular, impressive sights of the forts and monuments. There were so many highlights. A moment in time that will never happen again.
