Rural Rajasthan

Situated on the edge of the Great Thar Desert, just south of Jodhpur, lies Rohet Garh, a lovely family run fort in a rural setting outside the city. It is a delight with its homely atmosphere, tranquil gardens and an abundance of bird life.

Rooms are scattered around the premises either facing onto the gardens or overlooking the lake. The rooms are all unique varying in shape and size and have been nicely decorated in traditional Rajasthani fabrics, varied colour themes and frescoes.

After a long day out in the countryside enjoy sundowners on the roof terrace overlooking the lake and dinner in either the dining room or the gorgeous upstairs tented dining terrace offering Indian and international cuisine.

Throughout there are beautiful flower filled gardens and courtyards to relax with a book, have an afternoon siesta or watch the birdlife.

The hotel has a lovely swimming pool and also offers massages, steam room, yoga and bicycles. The family are nature lovers and will take you out on walks to desert villages and farming communities.

Rohet Garh also offers some of the best riding safaris and horses in Rajasthan and cooking lessons. If you wish to venture further afield enjoy a city tour of Jodhpur.

Thank you for putting together the ancestral adventure of a lifetime. I cannot speak highly enough of the trip. The transfers went smoothly, the accommodation was excellent, the drivers were amazing as they manoeuvred through the traffic and every tour guide had a great deal of knowledge and information. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The contrast of poverty and riches of the country was striking, from the beggars in the street and struggles of the poor to the spectacular, impressive sights of the forts and monuments. There were so many highlights. A moment in time that will never happen again.
