Giddy Up India
You may have heard of the ‘Golden Triangle’ marked by the blue city of Jodhpur, the lake city of Udaipur, and the pink city of Jaipur. These horse rides rake place in the middle, where there is space to gallop, peace to enjoy and traditional rural culture to embrace.
A variety of rides are available, each catering to different tastes and interests, but all are outfitted to the highest quality with accommodation in a carefully selected range of stylish hotels and elegant safari style camps. The average riding distance is 25km – 30km per day with 4 – 6 hours in the saddle and a break for a long picnic lunch in a shady spot. Sightseeing of key interest points, such as Udaipur’s City Palace or Jodhpur’s Mehrangarh Fort, combines with days spent in the wilderness experiencing the Osian Desert Dunes or tracking leopards in the jungle.
The Marwai horses are beautiful steeds, known for their elegance, intelligence and animated gait. They are capable of covering long distances with good speed, and can withstand intense heat and adverse climatic conditions making them ideally suited to desert safari.
Riding through Rajasthan any sense of time or modernity disappears, leaving the stunning landscapes, the spirit of the horses, and the richness of Indian culture to take centre stage.
