The Otherworldly Landscapes of Namibia
From there, the journey moves into the rugged beauty of Damaraland, where guests track desert-adapted elephants and explore the ancient rock engravings of Twyfelfontein. A stop in Swakopmund offers a refreshing change of pace on the Atlantic coast, with optional kayaking, dune adventures, or relaxed exploration of the town’s colonial charm.
The safari concludes in the Namib Tsaris Conservancy, with early morning visits to Sossusvlei’s towering red dunes and the surreal clay pan of Deadvlei. Throughout, guests stay in handpicked, sustainable lodges that highlight the region’s natural beauty and cultural depth.
This itinerary is ideal for those seeking an in-depth, responsible exploration of Namibia’s untamed landscapes and remarkable biodiversity.

9 UNFORGETTABLE DAYS
DAY 1 | WINDHOEK | 1 NIGHT
Today marks the start of your ‘Namibia Untold’ safari. You will be collected from your hotel (or Windhoek International Airport, flight dependent), then travel from Windhoek to Ongava Private Reserve by road.
En route you will visit Okonjima’s AfriCat Day Centre, home to the AfriCat Foundation, and a wildlife sanctuary which focuses on the research and rehabilitation of Africa’s big cats, especially injured or captured leopard and cheetah. You’ll embark on an informative game drive and tour of the centre, and meet some of the Foundation’s special carnivore ambassadors up close.
DAY 2 | ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK | 1 NIGHT
Choose whether you would like to head into the Etosha National Park for a full day of game viewing, or whether you would prefer morning and evening game drives with time to rest by the pool in between.
Once you are back (gates close at sunset), the rest of the evening can be spent game viewing at the camp’s floodlit waterhole while enjoying dinner, and afterwards.
DAY 3 | DAMARALAND | 3 NIGHTS
After breakfast you will continue your safari to the heart of Namibia, Damaraland, travelling through farmlands and small towns, and taking in the landscape’s displays of colour, magnificent table topped mountains, rock formations and bizarre-looking vegetation. The variety and loneliness of the area provides a new understanding of the word ‘wilderness’.
Arrive in time in time to enjoy fireside sundowners at Camp Doros.
DAY 4 | DAMARALAND | 3 NIGHTS
An exciting and memorable morning as you head out rhino tracking with the assistance of local trackers. These black rhino form part of one of the only free-roaming black rhino populations in Africa and tracking animals in an unfenced and uninhibited environment is an absolute privilege.
You will return to camp for a freshly prepared lunch and with time to relax at camp during the heat of the day, before heading out again for a scenic nature drive or walk later in the afternoon.
DAY 5 | DAMARALAND | 3 NIGHTS
Continue to discover the fascinating landscapes of Damaraland both by vehicle and on foot, with today’s focus largely on tracking desert adapted elephants in the ephemeral river systems. Note that desert adapted elephants are not a separate species or even a subspecies, they are an ecotype unique to Namibia in Africa south of the equator, behaviorally adapted to hyper-arid conditions. Elephant in Mali on the southwestern fringe of the Sahara Desert are the only others known to survive in similar conditions.
You have the opportunity to spend the whole day out in the bush tracking these fascinating creatures, with a picnic lunch to sustain you until you return to camp in the late afternoon.
DAY 6 | SWAKOPMUND | 1 NIGHT
After an early breakfast the drive today takes you south past Namibia’s highest mountain, the Brandberg which peaks at 2,573 metres above sea level, and west to meet the coast at Henties Bay. You then continue south to the coastal town of Swakopmund where you can enjoy the pleasant seaside location and cooler coastal air for the night.
Tonight, includes dinner at a popular restaurant which specialises in locally harvested fresh seafood as well as other local and international dishes.
DAY 7 | SOSSUSVLEI | 2 NIGHTS
Drive through the everchanging desert landscape via the impressive Gaub and Kuiseb canyons to meet the dunes at the settlement of Solitaire, then arrive in Sossusvlei by late afternoon. The rest of the afternoon and evening will be at leisure.
DAY 8 | SOSSUSVLEI | 2 NIGHTS
This morning you will need to rise early for a magical excursion with your guide to Sossusvlei in the Namib Naukluft National Park, normally setting off before sunrise to enter the park at sunrise and capture the dunes whilst the light is soft and shadows accentuate the towering shapes and curves.
The Sossusvlei area boasts some of the highest freestanding sand dunes in the world and your guide will give you an insight on the formation of the Namib Desert and its myriad of fascinating creatures and plants that have adapted to survive these harsh environs.
DAY 9 | WINDHOEK | DEPARTURE
After a leisurely breakfast this morning you will depart from Sossusvlei and return to Windhoek, driving northeast up the Great Escarpment and through the scenic Khomas Hochland highlands.
Upon your arrival in Windhoek, your ‘Namibia Untold’ safari will draw to a close and you will be driven to the airport if required, or otherwise continue with your onward arrangements.

Thank you for putting together the ancestral adventure of a lifetime. I cannot speak highly enough of the trip. The transfers went smoothly, the accommodation was excellent, the drivers were amazing as they manoeuvred through the traffic and every tour guide had a great deal of knowledge and information. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The contrast of poverty and riches of the country was striking, from the beggars in the street and struggles of the poor to the spectacular, impressive sights of the forts and monuments. There were so many highlights. A moment in time that will never happen again.
Jenny KiddExellent and wonderful, reaching way above expectations.
Elizabeth MackintoshWe wanted the opportunity to see as many wildlife parks as possible and the Classic Safari Company provided an action-packed itinerary that included six, with 11 tiger sightings and nine leopard. This was overlaid with an introduction to Jaisalmer, Jaipur and the 'real' India. Pench and Panna were the hidden gems of a really great trip, very well organised, seamless and enjoyable. As a solo traveller I felt incredibly safe at all times. I want to go back!
