Rajasthan Family Adventure

This twelve day active family adventure showcases a unique and adventurous side of India.  Highlights include a rickshaw ride through Old Delhi, a fun Street Eats walking tour, watching the sunrise over the Taj Mahal, a visit to the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Fatehpur Sikri, a rural cooking class in Jaipur,  a jeep ride to Amber Fort (outside Jaipur) and a boat trip on famed Lake Pichola in Udaipur; all before spending two days walking through Kumbhalgarh.

Your journey begins in Delhi spending 3 nights in Haveli Dharampura – the perfect introduction to India’s architecture, history and traditional way of life.  Nestled in the winding alleys of Old Delhi you will have the opportunity to explore on foot and by rickshaw before travelling to Agra to spend 2 nights in the ITC Mughal and to view the greatest monument to love – the Taj Mahal.  The Pink City of Jaipur awaits and the fabulous Jai Mahal Palace will be your home whilst you spend days exploring incredible forts and palaces on foot and wandering local markets before flying to the Lake City of Udaipur.  From your base in the Aravalli Hills, at the Fateh Garh Palace Hotel, you will undertake a walking tour of the city and a spectacular boat ride on famous Lake Pichola.  Your journey culminates with a 2 day Kumbalgarh trek, walking (approx 5hrs) to Kumbhalgarh Fort to spend a night at Fateh Safari Suites before continuing the following day (approx 4hrs walking) to reach the Ranakpur Jain Temples.  Your trek leads you through the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary – famous for wild hogs, sloth bears, leopards, antelopes and an incredible array of birds species.  Kumbhalgarh Fort itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is encompassed by the 2nd largest fortified wall in the world (after the Great Wall of China) – a truly exceptional site to explore.  Return to Delhi for a final night at the Pullman Aerocity Airport Hotel  before starting your return journey home……or possibly exploring more of India!

12 ACTIVE FUNFILLED DAYS

DAY 1 | DELHI | 3 NIGHTS

On arrival in Delhi you will be met and transported back in time to Old Delhi – a thriving ancient part of the city with a labyrinth of lanes & traditional store holders. Spend your first night in India in the traditional, stunningly restored Haveli Dharampura.

DAY 2 | DELHI

Enjoy an early morning ricksahw ride (or cycling tour if you prefer) of Old Delhi. Later discover the sights and sounds of India’s vibrant capital city with a half day (by vehicle) tour taking in the highlights of the magnificent Mughal architecture as well as the exotic atmosphere of the bustling bazaars.

DAY 3 | DELHI

Undertake a walking tour of the Sanjay Colony Slum in the South of Delhi and see how these Delhites live. This evening enjoy an evening street food walking tour – a culinary adventure through the backstreets of Old Delhi.

DAY 4 | AGRA | 2 NIGHTS

After breakfast road transfer to Agra and check into your hotel. This afternoon visit the beautiful Mehtab Bagh Gardens and watch the sunset over the Taj Mahal, sitting majestically on the other side the Yamuna River.

DAY 5 | AGRA

A full day sightseeing tour of Agra awaits! Commence with an early morning visit to the iconic Taj Mahal to watch the sunrise. Later visit the Agra Fort and Itimad-ud-Daulah – affectionately known as the ‘Baby Taj’.

DAY 6 | JAIPUR | 2 NIGHTS

On your road journey to Jaipur today visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Fatehpur Sikri. After settling in to your stylish accommodation embark on a fabulous culinary experience with an evening cooking class with a local family.

DAY 7 | JAIPUR

Enjoy a morning heritage walking tour of Jaipur – a walk through the walled city is the ideal way to give you an insight into the city and how it ticks. Later, enjoy a half-day tour (by-vehicle), visiting Amber Fort, then passing by the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) before visiting the City Palace and Museum before ending your day with a walk around the UNESCO World Heritage site of Jantar Mantar.

DAY 8 | UDAIPUR | 2 NIGHTS

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Udaipur with some time at leisure on arrival this afternoon. Later head out for a late afternoon boat ride on Lake Pichola viewing the stunning palaces, havelis and temples that line the shore.

DAY 9 | UDAIPUR

This morning enjoy discovering the Lake City of Udaipur by bicycle on a guided cycling tour. On foot you will then visit the City Palace followed by the Jagdish Temple and ‘Saheliyon ki Bari’ – the garden of the Maids of Honour.

DAY 10 | KUMBALGARH | 1 NIGHT

After an early breakfast, drive to the starting point of your Kumbhalgarh trek. Enjoy a 5 hour scenic trek from Majera to Sarajkund bound for Kumbhalgarh Fort – the edifice that dominates the surrounding landscape is not only famous for being surrounded by the 2nd largest fortified wall in the world, it is also a UNESCO world heritage site. Overnight in the Fateh Safari Suites with sweeping views of the plains of Marwar and the Kumbhalgarh Fort.

DAY 11 | DELHI | 1 NIGHT

Start the day with an early breakfast and recommence your trek, walking through the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary – home to Sloth bear, jungle cats, Sambhar, Nilgai, Chausingha (the four-horned antelope) and Chinkara. Continue your trek to the Muchala Mahavir Jain Temple, then drive to Ranakpur for lunch. After lunch visit the unique Ranakpur Jain Temples, then continue to Udaipur airport in time to fly to Delhi for your final night in India.

DAY 12 | END OF ITINERARY

Morning at leisure before your airport transfer to check in for your flight home. Otherwise, we can arrange a 2 night extension to see the Golden Temple in Amritsar (Punjab) or to the holy city of Varanasi, the spiritual heart of the Hindu’s on the bank of the Ganges.
